Driver Sought in Alameda County Hit-and-Run That Injured Motorcyclist

California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating a hit-and-run incident involving a motorcycle in Alameda County after the driver struck a motorcyclist and fled the scene.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. in the Castro Valley area, near Gail Drive and Grove Way. The motorcyclist was allegedly stopped at a traffic light when the driver in the Camaro approached from behind, struck the bike, and fled.

CHP officers indicated that the victim was transported to an area hospital to be treated for injuries, but was expected to recover.

Unfortunately, motorcycle accidents are all too frequent in the state of California. In fact, motorcycle accidents continue to make up a significant portion of road accidents, which has lead to a growing number of victims dealing with personal injury or disability.

Motorcycle Accidents in California

Between its fair weather and increasingly populous roadways, California is a natural setting for motorcycle enthusiasts. However, cities like Sacramento continue to see frequent motorcycle accidents due to increasingly populated roadways and distracted drivers.

In California, drivers have a responsibility to exercise caution when sharing the roadways with other vehicles, like large trucks or motorcycles. Failing to observe other drivers can yield devastating consequences, including serious personal injury, or even death.

Unlike other types of auto accidents, injuries sustained in motorcycle incidents can be far more severe. This comes down to the fact that motorcycle riders are far more exposed than other drivers, making any impact all the more devastating.

Though some accidents may result in minor scrapes or bruises, motorcycle accidents frequently involve injuries that require lengthy rehabilitation, such as:

  • Spinal injuries
  • Significant head or brain trauma
  • Bone fractures
  • Emotional or mental trauma

Like any injury scenario, consulting with a doctor after a motorcycle accident is a must. Only a qualified medical professional can identify personal injury, and recommend a path towards rehabilitation.
